Compost Foraging
Posted by: Angry!, 09-Jul 20:14
Some animal keeps burrowing into my kitchen compost and scattering onions, pepper cores and various types of peelings all over my garden!
I've got a big plastic compost thing, and have been building up a mixture of grass cuttings, kitchen waste (no meat products) and paper from a cross shredder shedding machine. Oh - and some plain cardboard every now and then to soak up liquid.
But something - a fox, cat from hell or something burrows under the edges and then up inside to get to the lovely (yuk - it's all mouldy and rotten now!) kitchen waste. I've even thrown Garotta (is that the one?) and fertiliser over the layers to stop any animals being interested.
I've had to barracade the small access flap at the bottom with spare paving slabs and have built the edges up around the bottom with some spare gravelly clay that was left after some garden work.
The unknown beast will NOT beat me!!!
