Been composting the kitchen waste for a year and it seems to be taking ages to rot down properly. Was hoping to use some of the earlier stuff this weekend but it's nowhere near ready. What can i do to speed things up.

Thought I'd follow this up. Things have moved on. I started to use my second compost bin to leave a gap at the top of the 1st to add grass cuttings to. I lifted the lid of number 1 tonight and WOOOW! It was just FULL of worms - I mean you know when you see a box of snakes on TV or somenthing? It was like that, just writing away! That was just on top of the rotting veg/grass etc. I assume that they will also be through the compost itself if there are that many on top?

I'll be able to turn worming into a business at this rate!
